The Peregrine Falcon is the first release in the new Birds of Prey series from the Royal Canadian Mint. The coins are .9999 pure silver. The Peregrine is renowned for its speed, reaching over 322 km/h (200 mph) during its characteristic hunting stoop (high speed dive), making it the fastest member of the animal kingdom.According to National Geographic, the highest measured speed of a Peregrine Falcon is 389 km/h (242 mph)
The Royal Canadian Mint will issue 6 coins in this series, each with a maximum mintage of 1M ounces.
The obverse of the coin features the profile of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Canadian born Susanna Blunt, along with the year and face value of $5 (CAD).
